Wizkids Offers Charming ‘Magic: The Gathering’ Charms With Digital Card Covers Included

I really miss playing Magic: The Gathering on the regular. Once or twice a month, I find myself spending a handful of hours just looking through new cards and building decks to match different themes and playstyles. The last time I played a hand of Magic in person has been longer than I want to admit. It’s not for lack of trying. The local scene, at least the scene that is accessible is kind of lacking in my area. Thankfully there is always Magic the Gathering Arena.
For those who may have not messed with Magic Arena yet, it’s an online version of the card game that functions pretty much the same way as the in-person version of the game. There is a bit of a tutorial that may take 20 to 30 minutes that bring you up to speed for online play. It can get a little tiresome if you are familiar with how to play already, but if you stick it out you can dive into the normal state of play and it opens up a whole slew of possibilities.
My pals at WizKids have released plush versions of the Magic: The Gathering companions that come with codes that allow for digital card sleeves that unlock to enhance your digital state of play.
It’s always cool when there is a synergy like this because it allows a physical collectible for fan-favorite icons like Fblthp, the Rainbow Koi, The Fisherman, and Mabel, but also provides a digital asset that makes the digital version of the game feel as prioritized as much as the physical version of the game.
Mabel is getting some cool coverage as she showed up in the Bloomburrow set and has quite the cool lore to go with her.
These little plush keychains are also super durable. I had a few of the Dungeons & Dragons versions on my bag at GenCon and they did just fine. I would love it if the next wave of D&D plush keychains had digital content attached as well for D&D Beyond.
