Interview: Co-Founder Mike Kennedy Reflects On Magnetic Press’ First 10 Years

Magnetic Press co-founder Mike Kennedy joins me in the virtual panel room to celebrate the company’s tenth anniversary, their recent Eisner Award win, and more. Kennedy discusses the relative ease with which creators can enter the comics industry thanks to crowdfunding campaigns and companion services like fulfillment companies. He also notes the way the platforms democratize tabletop gaming as well, as the company also crowdfunded Planet of the Apes: The Role Playing Game. He recalls the origins of Magnetic and looks to the future via a partnership with Label 619 that allows Magnetic to be their exclusive English-language distributor.
