Art For Art’s Sake #283: Bringing All The Comic Art To You

by Richard Bruton

Let’s take a look into the wide, wonderful world of comic art… time for Art For Art’s Sake

Roberta Gregory

Colleen Doran – Conan cover

Greg Staples – Judge Death

Des Taylor – Indy

And speaking of Indy – JaKe – ‘One of the Indiana Jones styleguide illustrations I created for @lucasfilm Limited colour palette so it could print across apparel, stickers, books etc.’

John McCrea and Gerhard:

‘I did a LOEG commission for Brent last year. He worked with Gerhard (of Cerebus fame) to rotate and crop my original pencils/inks which he then printed on 11×17 comics board, and then painted in watercolor. The result is fantastic…’

Alex Toth – Space Ghost, 1995

Mike Perkins – Spider-Ham

Jonathan Edwards – Dredd

Warwick Johnson-Cadwell

Colin MacNeil Man-Thing

Unknown Soldier artwork by Gerry Talaoc (Via David Roach)

Richard Piers Rayner:

‘This is one of the 46 original pages that I produced for Doctor Who: Evenings Empire. I’ve made a slight tweak to it for the new edition, coming soon from Panini. This isn’t enough to qualify it as one of the all-new pages but there are 7 of them in the collection and it was a real pleasure to re-visit the story after all these years.’

John Watson

David Hitchcock:

‘Here’s a picture of The Shadow I did eons ago. It has been coloured a couple of times over the years, this time the detailed colours are by Steve Novak. I believe this may well appear as a cover on the collected edition of The Shadowed Circle in the coming months. Steve has spent time on minute details colouring this, even the bricks are several different shades. Superb stuff

More David Hitchcock – Spider this time…

Hunt Emerson

Alan Davis

Jean Girard and Morris – two of Europe’s best artists – Lucky Luke & Blueberry…

Sláine by Mick McMahon

Patrick Goddard – Rogue’s buddies…
