‘ThunderCats’ #11 To Start New Storyline As The Confrontation With Mumm-Ra Becomes Unavoidable

by Erik Amaya

Since the ThunderCats landed on Third Earth, a direct confrontation with Mumm-ra was something all reader of the series knew would happen eventually and, as Dynamite teased Monday, ThunderCats #11 will start that clock ticking in earnest.

Writer Declan Shalvey and artist Drew Moss continue their overall tale into year two as WilyKat and WilyKit finally admit they know the location of the villain’s Black Pyramid. And once Lion-O learns about the mystery on its walls, he ventures out alone to see Mumm-Ra’s lair for himself. Of course, the Ever-Living will be royally annoyed to see his adversary in his home, so expect a battle to occur quickly. But the stakes have never been higher for Lion-O or the ‘Cats as the battle for Third Earth begins.

“It’s been an amazing experience, from the initial enthusiasm, to the amazing sales, to the actual feedback from readers,” Shalvey said in a statement. “Couldn’t be happier with how things have gone. Currently I’m having to switch things up as the original plan was to do a year-long reboot, but with the sales momentum being so strong, we now have at least another year on the book. We really have found a great groove, and getting to continue this book is a golden opportunity to see how that collaboration evolves.”

Supporting the issue will be variant covers from Shalvey, Lucio Parrillo, Jae Lee, Ivan Tao, Manix, and an “incentive variant” by Felipe Massafera. Additionally, Moss will contribute an action figure variant.

ThunderCats #11 hits shops this December.
