Okay, let’s end this one with Kyle Baker‘s fab It’s Genetic strips from Marvel Age #31 – 60 (1985-1986), one of the first times I saw his talent certainly.
It happened when he was freelancing at Marvel – not too successfully to be honest, as he hadn’t truly come into his own style in those days – and Jim Salicrup got him to do a few one-panel gags for Marvel Age. Well, 12 of them happened from ’85-86 and I realised how damn incredible he was.
It was just a couple of years till he absolutely got to do just what he wanted, how he wanted, with the side-splittingly funny Cowboy Wally Show. After that came book after book of brilliance… but here’s where I first really fell in love with his work…
