EXCLUSIVE: Meet The Pizza-Loving Characters Of Stout Club’s New Graphic Novel ‘Sliced’

Sliced is an original graphic novel from the folks at Stout Club debuting Tuesday 12th November as a digital first on ComiXology Originals. Written by Rafael Scavone with art by Guilherme Grandizolli, this is a story of organised crime, family, and pizza with “two rival pizzaiolos forced to give up their generational rivalry and collaborate against a new high-tech competitor.” And we have been given an exclusive rundown of the cast of colourful characters you’ll meet in this crime caper:
Don Tommaso
Boss of the local Mafia since the death of his father, in 1986. Don Tommaso makes money from everything, whether legal or illegal. His main line of business is real estate development and the financial market casino. He’s also a partner in many enterprises and earns even by supplying the ingredients to local pizzerias. With his companies, he owns all the neighborhood, except for the two rival pizzerias he now wants off his Monopoly board.
Carlos III
The third dog from the same lineage of strays that Don Tommaso adopted decades ago, when his favorite mistress died. Carlos III is pampered by all, having more prestige than Tommaso’s own son, Gigio.
Gigio
The youngest son of Don Tommaso is a spoiled and disgusting playboy. Like his father when he was young, Gigio only cares about money and status. He’s always trying to impress his powerful father, without success, and he’s terribly jealous of Carlos III, his father’s dog. Gigio dreams of being the CEO of one of the startups his father finances — most of them a front to warm up the Mafia’s money.
Rocco
Silvio’s lost uncle, Rocco is a dubious figure from the past that may help — or mess up — our pizzaiolos in their fight to save their shops.
Pietro
Pietro is the son of the late Massimo Pizzutti, a famous pizzaiolo. In addition to his dad’s craft, Pietro also inherited the traditional “Pizzeria di Napoli,” where he still lives with his mother. Pietro dreams of earning the title of best pizzaiolo in town, a title his neighbor and rival, Silvio, already has. But deep down, Pietro, knows that Silvio’s pizzas are tastier than his own.
Silvio
Silvio takes after his father, Enrico Zampini, not only in appearance, but also in the talent for making pizzas. He’s a true pizza phenomenon from a very early age, with some saying he was born for that job, even if he always takes more time than usual to prepare a single pie. Like his neighbor, Silvio inherited a renowned pizzeria, “La Napoletana,” located right beside Pietro’s.
Sofia
Silvio’s daughter, Sofia, sometimes seems like the only grown up in her small family. Since she was 14, she has been doing the accounting for her father’s pizzeria, as he has no way with numbers. She feels like a powerless witness of the pizzeria’s decay. Sofia is very fond of the neighbor Marta, Pietro’s mother.
Marta
Mother of Pietro, she lives with her son on the top floor of the pizzeria for sheer comfort, while she enjoys a kind of late youth. She’s often drinking during the day while watching her son, whom she considers stubborn and very much like his father, get bogged into a business on the brink of bankruptcy.
