Superstar Mark Brooks’ Whimsical Animated Designs Cover Marvel Comics In February
by Tony Thornley
For the last few months, superstar artist Mark Brooks has gone viral on social media for depicting Marvel Comics’ icons in a familiar, whimsical style. Now, those designs come to variant covers on Marvel’s biggest titles.

Brooks made his mark (pardon the pun) on the comics world with his cartoony characters that were a bit more manga influenced. His style shifted and changed over the years, from a refined version of his original style to something more realistic and hyper detailed. But this style, closer to Disney’s classic animated film style is a completely new look for the star artist.
“Almost a year ago I started drawing my animated Marvel characters as a warm-up every morning just for fun,” Brooks shared. “It became a way for me to loosen up and draw something different from my normal style. I never dreamed that over 200 characters later that they would see the light of day as official Marvel artwork. I have so many more to show and even more that I want to draw. I couldn’t be more thrilled to see them grace the covers of some of my favorite books and hope the audience enjoys collecting them as much as I did creating them!”
Check out all twenty-six of the covers, and watch for your favorites all through February from Marvel Comics.
