Ed Brisson And Rapha Lobosco Re-team For Dynamite’s ‘ThunderCats: Lost’

It was only a matter of time before the lost ‘Cats made their way to Third Earth.

Dynamite announced Tuesday that March will see the launch of ThunderCats: Lost, a series dedicated to the tale of the ThunderCats who joined the team in the later part of the original animated series’ run. Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O finally begin their journey to Cat’s Lair courtesy of Ed Brisson and Rapha Lobosco, the team behind ThunderCats: Apex. The three ‘Cats, plus new Thunderian warriors Neko and Ligon, face the greatest of peril when their ship is shot down behind enemy lines. Hunted by a formidable enemy, the five must find away to escape and reunite with friendly forces.

“The world that the ThunderCats: Lost team have ventured into is very different from where our mainline ThunderCats are, and the trials and tribulations that they face as a result are unique to this series — though just as exciting and deadly,” Brisson said in a statement. “They find themselves trapped in a highly militarized zone, in a world that eschews magic in favor of hyper-advanced technology. This world is ruled with an iron fist, under a cruel dictator with an innate hatred of cats — so much so that they’re hellbent on stamping out this cat invasion before it can take root. The villains they face will be familiar to ThunderCats fans, but you’ll have to read to find out just who they’re up against.”

As with the rest of Dynamite’s ThunderCats line, character details and origins will be tweaked, complete with “a role directly tied to the survival of all Thunderians, and connecting to previous releases in the comics.” The two new additions to the roster, meanwhile, are described as “a fierce snow leopard, a skilled warrior who tries to solve every problem with violence” and a “gigantic liger, with no need for weapons beyond his fists, but a kind and caring heart.” Combined with the established ‘Cats, the fivesome are the misfit Thunderians who can get the job done. But not all of them will make it to Third Earth.

“They’re not heroes. They won’t all survive. To them, all that matters is completing their secret mission,” editor Nate Cosby said.
