Boldly Go Where No Subscription Service Has Gone Before With Fanhome’s ‘Star Trek’ Starships Diecast Collection

Fanhome, known for their subscription-based collections and models, has a new Star Trek diecast collection available. The new subscription offers finely crafted die-cast models from the latest Star Trek series, including Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Prodigy, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Discovery, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
The ships, licensed by CBS Studios, are made with die-cast metal and high-quality ABS, featuring detailed painting based on original designs. Each 6-10” model comes with a magazine that profiles the ship, exploring its in-universe story, design process, and original production art.
Fanhome sent me the U.S.S. Titan NCC-80102-A, Captain Shaw’s (Todd Stashwick) ship from Picard, for review. The model is 8.66” long, made of diecast metal with ABS warp nacelles. The sculpt is based on the original VFX files from the show, and it is executed beautifully.
Each ship comes with a magazine that details the ship’s kayfabe history first, and then describes the real-world design process. The Titan is a Constitution Class ship that was commissioned in 2396 after the loss of Captain Riker’s (Jonathan Frakes) Luna Class U.S.S. Titan, salvaging many of the systems from its namesake, including the warp nacelles and computer core.
Picard showrunner Terry Matalas wanted the design to call back to the ship designs from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, but … it also had to look more modern than the 1980s-90s TV shows. Designer David Blass took the challenge in stride, blending elements of a Bill Krause U.S.S. Shangri-La model with Picard-era engines.
Inside each package, there’s also a display stand designed specifically for each ship. Being made of diecast metal, the Titan model is front-heavy. The stand design accounts for this, fitting onto the rear of the ship’s saucer. The ease by which the ship is placed on the stand and removed is pretty impressive, and when the ship is displayed, it’s balanced perfectly.
The next several ships, in order, are the U.S.S. Stargazer NCC-82893, the U.S.S. Farragut NCC-1647, and the S.S. Eleos XII (NAR-59019). The Eleos will be the first XL ship in this collection.
