Gift Guide For Gamers 2024: ‘Dropout’ Streaming Subscriptions

I’m mister Game-meister, I’m mister roll! Okay so that one kind of falls flat. Never the less, it’s time for another installment of Comicon’s 2024 Gift Guide For Gamers! What does the not-quite-a-ghost-but-feeling-more-grave-than-gravy Anton have for you today? Why it’s Dropout!
Formerly CollegeHumor, Dropout is an independent streaming service that has a ton of great programing scratching all sorts of gaming itches. There are no advertisements and the majority of the content bounces between actual play TTRPGs run by Brennan Lee Mulligan, and improve game shows like Game Changer and Make Some Noise, both hosted by the owner of Dropout, Sam Reich.
There are hours upon hours of campaigns of all sorts of styles and flavors to amuse and inspire both the storyteller and the player in your life. I often find myself returning to the various seasons of Fantasy High to watch the cast explore the landscape of Spire as they dig into the various mysteries and plot threads that unfold.
Never Stop Blowing Up is a great jumping on point if you are looking for a rad way to watch the Kids on Bikes TTRPG being applied to a streaming game. Dungeons & Drag Queens is a fantastic exploration of what it looks like to bring new players to the table who have no idea how to play the game but are totally willing to learn. There are so many epic offerings in the TTRPG space and that is not even talking about the days and days worth of other shows that live on Dropout.
Outside of actual play, there is the auditory treat that is Make Some Noise, a game show where a rotating cast of improv players make fun mouth sounds attempting to win points based on prompts provided. There is also the deliriously delightful Game Changer — where I am fairly certain that Sam Reich is conducting a massive social experiment that will leave us all stunned in the coming years when we finally figure out what he is actually up to.

With the exception of YouTube, Dropout is my go-to source for entertainment and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The gift-giving bit of this is so easy … you don’t even have to wrap it!
