Space Ghost And Jonny Quest Unite For A ‘Space Quest’ Crossover At Dynamite

Not since the courtroom of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law have so many Hanna-Barbera characters shared a scene.

Dynamite announced Thursday the upcoming crossover event Space Ghost/Jonny Quest: Space Quest — the first meeting of any of the Warner Bros. Discovery Consumer Products characters since the company began publishing comics based on the animated stars. Jonny Quest writer Joe Casey and artist Sebastián Píriz take the reins on this adventure as Jonny and his family make their way to Outer Space. But what could convince the teen, father Doctor Benton Quest, adopted brother Hadji, bodyguard Race Bannon, and loyal pup Bandit to leave the boundaries of the Earth?

Area 51, of course! It all starts when the Quest team are summoned to the legendary facility for an investigation of a UFO being stored there. All assume the occupants of the craft are somewhere and since Earth falls into Space Ghost’s jurisdiction, the crash also attracts his attention.

“It was easy to look at the two concepts and see how they could fit together, how they could bounce off each other, and what kind of story would serve to honor both of them,” Casey said of crossover. “Everyone will be there. It’s a crossover of concepts as much as it is of the characters. And the basic hook of the story is something that I can’t believe has never been done before. Once you see it, it’s so gloriously obvious that it just feels right.”

Supporting the tale with variant covers are Mark Spears, Joshua Middleton, Derek Chew, Ben Oliver, and Chad Hardin. Additionally, Mark Bagley contributes an incentive cover for collectors.

Space Ghost/Jonny Quest: Space Quest #1 makes for space this March. The month will also see the release of Jonny Quest: Time Flies, the collected volume of Casey and Píriz’s Jonny Quest. Comprising the first five issues, it will be available in both hardcover and paperback, and feature a cover gallery. Check out Time Flies‘s cover in the gallery above.
