ICYMI: ‘Superman’ Flies (And Falls) In First Teaser

We’ll admit it. We’re a little hyped for Superman. While everyone has their favorite aspects and interpretation of the Man of Tomorrow, the teaser for James Gunn‘s take on the character and his world is hitting all the right buttons for us. The use of the typography and theme from the 1978 Superman, star David Corenswet essaying Christopher Reeve‘s dorky Clark Kent, Superman protecting a child from an explosion, and another kid — this time in a battlefield — looking up and saying “Superman” just all feels right. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the preview for yourself:
The one thing missing: the classic Superman logo.
While the plot of the film is still under wraps, we know its set in the early days of Clark’s two careers. But in this version of the DC Cinematic Universe, super-powered individuals in costumes are not a new thing. How will Clark adjust to being the latest in a line of presumed metahumans who may be more feared than adored? According to Gunn, the film is about hope, so we expect Clark will turn public perception around just by being the Big Blue Boy Scout.
Superman arrives in theaters on July 11th.
