Adult Animation Revolution: ‘Helluva Boss’ Season Finale

Helluva Boss has had a roller coaster of a season — love, loss, betrayal and all-around demonic horniness. So much has happened in Vivienne Medrano‘s shared underworld that I completely forgot Hazbin Hotel came out this year as well. As this season comes to a close, I’d like to reflect on the impact the series has had on pop culture.
What Medrano and the whole creative team have accomplished cannot be overstated. The success of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss has opened up new paths to create professional quality, independent, animated shows on the web. Growing up, the only places to watch cartoons were Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and the Disney Channel. All the adult animated comedies on those platforms looked butt-ugly and there were no openly gay main characters. The Hella-verse marks a new era in animation that’s created for and by the next generation.
