Comicon’s Best Comic Artists Of 2024

Welcome to Comicon.com’s Best of the Year Awards, gathering the best comics and comics talent of the strange year that was 2021. This year we will be awarding in the following categories: Best Comic Series, Best Original Graphic Novels and Collected Editions, Best Single Comic Issues, Best Writers, Best Artists, Best Cover Artists, Best Colorists, Best Letterers, Best Digital/Webcomics, and Most Progressive Comics.
Contributors to Comicon’s Best of the Year Awards this year include: Rachel Bellwoar, Richard Bruton, Scott Redmond, Tito James, Tom Smithyman, and Tony Thornley.
The following are Comicon’s Best Comic Artists of 2024
5. Phil Noto
Noto has long been one of the top artists in the industry. In the first half of the year, he was one of the main artists as Marvel’s Krakoan X-Men era came to an end. His issues were always a highlight, elevating what was frankly a rushed storyline every time he came in. But in the second half of the year, he guested on The Ultimates and crafted one of the best issues of 2024. He laid out the story in a way that could only be done in comics, enhancing an already tense and scary comic into something next level.

4. Bilquis Evely
With a dark, dreamy art style that pairs perfectly with fantasy, Helen of Wyndhorn might be the best showcase of Evely’s work yet. The covers alone are remarkable, with Evely’s use of texture bringing the austere period setting and ornate rooms of Wyndhorn House to life. From the moment Helen makes her first appearance, sprawled out on a jail cell bench, Evely endears readers to her, but it might be the portrayal of the dignified but loyal Miss. Appleton that’s the most revelatory.

3. Anna Morozova
From starting the year off with a collected edition of Lowborn High (which originally ran in 2000 AD) to now drawing Barbarella for Dynamite, it’s been a great year for fans of Morozova, whose ability to draw heroines is second to none. Whether it’s action sequences or the halls of a magical school, Morova brings sleek glamour and flattering fashions to everything she touches. Her characters also inspire serious hair envy, like her take on Black Beth for the Treasury of British Comics Annual 2025.

2. Dan Mora
There are few artists in comics who can execute exceptionally good comics every month of the year. There is one who can do it in two series a month. Mora has become DC Comics’ top artist over the last few years, but in 2024, he transitioned into drawing the centerpiece event, then drawing not one but two flagship titles in Superman and Justice League Unlimited. He continues to turn in some of the most stunning pages every month across both.

1. Peach Momoko
Finding a comic book that has a cover created by Momoko is like finding a gold nugget. No matter the character or concept, she brings it such unique bold colorful exaggerated yet emotionally deep energy. Therefore, finding a comic book that includes her interior art is like finding that whole mine chock-full of gold nuggets. Just hitting the jackpot. Ultimate X-Men is one of those books currently written and drawn by Momoko, and it’s utterly fantastic. Just a delightful artistic party where things shift from wholesome to rough to body horror in a heartbeat, all of it leaving a true lasting impact.
