‘Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii’ Direct Shows Off Combat And Mini-Games

by Sage Ashford

With just under two months to go, SEGA and RGG Studios have released a new Direct focused entirely on Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, the latest game in the Like A Dragon franchise that centers around Goro Majima. The video is over thirteen minutes long, but people worried about story spoilers can rest easy, as the trailer focuses entirely on the combat and mini-games in the title.

Viewers are given another look at Majima’s two fighting styles. Mad Dog Style focuses on Majima’s traditional fighting style, relying heavily on blocking and dodging along with his trademark knife attacks. Sea Dog Style, on the other hand, involves twin cutlasses, guns, and chain hooks, along with cool air combo attacks that makes the combat look like Devil May Cry by way of Like A Dragon.

The majority of the video, however, is focused on the game’s sea combat. It showcases an incredible amount of detail into ship customization, the ability to select the pirate crew by collecting over 100 different characters, and get into massive fights with other pirate crews. Somehow, this game looks like an even better version of what Ubisoft was trying to do with Skull and Bones.

Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches February 20th on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC.
