This week, our intrepid hosts wax nostalgic on 1980s Saturday morning cartoons as they discuss Tokypop and Mattel’s new publishing collaboration that brings new Hot Wheels and Barbie content to the world of Western-style manga OGNs. The partnership has potential for massive ripple effects across the worlds of comics, toys, and collectibles.
The gang does a deep dive into what attendees of Las Vegas Diecast SuperCon can expect from the convention, entertainment schedule, and VIP experiences, while Johnny provides a detailed history of the entire diecast industry. Seriously, if this guy isn’t listed as the world’s foremost diecast toy expert, I don’t know why not.
The final segment wraps with a rundown of hot comics titles hitting spinner racks this week, and the quartet tries to figure out whether DSTLRY’s $10 per issue price tag is justified by their All-Star cast of creators and prestige formatting.
