‘Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked’ Offers A DM-Less Gaming Experience

by Anton Kromoff

Welcome to the table,

Check this out…

Resolution Games has my attention with this DEMEO X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked project. As a storyteller, this is a very interesting concept to me. My role in this iteration of the game has been removed, making the game more focused on turn-based combat and — as Eugene Evans the SVP of Digital Strategy & Licensing at Wizards of the Coast says — “pick-up-and-play” mechanics.

“With the launch of Demeo back in 2021, we began to grow an incredible relationship with the D&D player community,” said Tommy Palm, founder and CEO, Resolution Games. “Demeo and Demeo Battles quickly became a game night substitute for Dungeon Masters who wanted an out-of-campaign way to have fun with their groups, and for D&D players to introduce their friends and family to tabletop miniatures games. Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked opens up that appeal even further by adapting the classes, actions, and lore of Dungeons & Dragons to this system for all new adventures and a whole new experience built from the ground up with D&D in mind.”

The game is going to have cross-platform support, with up to four players able to play together in a “DM-less” system. This lack of a Storyteller seems like it is going to open the door for those nights when someone can’t make it to the table, or for players who may want to play, but not take on the workload that can come with world building and running a game at the table.

Demeo X Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked will feature two story-based campaigns at launch, with additional campaigns in different D&D settings planned as downloadable content in the future.

Until next time, I really want to see how this plays before I can fully weigh in but I am hopefully this will scratch an itch for a part of the community who really is looking for something like this.
