Ruaridh Mollica Joins Disney+’s ‘Vision’

While all the marketing focus for Marvel Studios centers on Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it’s TV arm continues to plot the small-screen corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As evidence: Deadline reports actor Ruaridh Mollica is in talks to join the studio’s upcoming Vision series for Disney+. Paul Bettany is already on board to return as the titular automaton with Star Trek: Picard‘s Todd Stashwick also onboard to appear in the program. As it happens, Stashwick’s producing pal Terry Matalas is running the show after a creative rethink and the departure of WandaVision‘s Jac Schaeffer from the project.
Reportedly set after WandaVision, the series will center on the so-called White Vision as he attempts to regain his humanity and integrate the memories the Vision from the Hex imparted into his memory banks.
Mollica, who has some familiarity with superhero movie making via his role on HBO’s The Franchise, will play a character called Tucker. Any further details about his part or the plot are, of course, held safe at the Time Variance Authority.
Other members of the cast include Faran Tahir, who returns as Ten Rings agent Raza from the first Iron Man, and James Spader, who will reprise his role as Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. But considering the character was definitely deleted in that film, it remains to be seen just how he will return. Then again, complete obliteration never stopped the character from returning in the comics.
It is unclear when Vision will go into production or stream on Disney+, but “soonish” and “next year” are good guesses to both queries. After Ironheart airs later this year, the only remaining series Marvel has in the offing is Wonder Man with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular character. Although positioned as a standalone “Marvel Spotlight” series, Wonder Man and Vision’s shared history in the comics could come into play.
The next Marvel series, Daredevil: Born Again, debuts on Disney+ next month.
