‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Makes Its “Double Troubled” Turkey Day Plans
by Erik Amaya
It’s a fine tradition like a big dinner, fruit salad, and pumpkin pie: the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day marathon.
Initially honoring the fact the first episode of the series aired on Thanksgiving in 1989, MST3K‘s annual livestream is now an event fans wait for all year — and that’s considering how much MST3K is available these days. This year, though, season 11 and 12 join the rotation now that they’re completely available via FAST services and the show’s own YouTube Channel. For the schedule, that means an episode from those season will be paired with a classic season 1-10 episode. The festivities begin at 3am ET/12 am PT on Thursday, November 27th.
Some of the pairings include the following:
- Reptilicus/Gamera — Monsters
- Cry Wilderness/Quest of the Delta Knights — Mary Jo
- The Time Travelers/Time Chasers — Time Travel
- Avalanche/The Day the Earth Froze — Frozen Disasters
- Starcrash/Space Mutiny — Space Adventure
- The Christmas That Almost Wasn’t/Santa Claus Conquers the Martians — Christmas Under Attack
But that’s not all! MST3K will be presenting marathons all weekend long “with 20 double feature pairings of classic and revival episodes.” Considering some of the themes we’ve noticed in recent weeks on their YouTube channel, get ready for some unhinged themes and a chance to realize The Human Duplicators is one of the best episodes overall.
