Trailer Watch: Katanas Clash With Cannibals In ‘Lone Samurai’

Starring Shogen Ito and directed by Josh Waller, Lone Samurai is about a 13th century samurai who finds himself shipwrecked on an island of murderous cannibals. I’ve been a fan of the samurai action genre ever since I was a kid. What was previously a niche sub-genre is having a major resurgence with Shogun, Blue Eye Samurai, and Assassins Creed: Shadows. With so much samurai-themed material out there, it requires something really bold and original to catch my eye. By taking a familiar warrior archetype and stranding him in a hostile new environment, Lone Samurai looks like it could kill the competition.
Lone Samurai will release on December 12th.
