What Is Happening To Gwen Stacy? Marvel Reveals More Next Week

Mid day yesterday, Marvel Comics revealed a teaser image with only two bits of information- the artist credit and a tease that more is coming next week. So what does it mean?
In the new image from Paco Medina and Morry Hollowell, a shadowy figure visits the grave of Spider-Man’s lost love Gwen Stacy. So what does this teaser mean?
First of all let’s look at the clues.
There is no specific title cited here. So we don’t know for sure what series or story it’s teasing. It’s unlikely anything Miles oriented because he never met Earth-616 Gwen. Medina is currently working in the Spider-office, but on Spider-Boy. The title and character have nothing to do with Gwen, so it doesn’t seem to be a tease for that.
Amazing Spider-Man is relaunching with a new #1 in April. May would be just about the right timeline for a big reveal that shakes that volume to its core. Hopefully if it’s that, it’s a retcon that comes out better than the last major Gwen retcon.
It could be something to do with Spider-Gwen. That’s unlikely, because it appears she’s in the middle of a storyline in May. It could be a resolution to her interdimensional refugee status. I don’t believe she’s assumed dead in her home universe, but it may be that.
Or frankly, it could all be a big swerve. Something meant to throw us all off while the real reveal comes a bit more out of left field. It wouldn’t be the first time.
So, I guess we’ll see when Marvel reveals more next week.
