Not content with being a million-selling graphic novelist with Bunny Vs Monkey and Looshkin, Jamie Smart recently announced that his book series Super Duper Bunny League is becoming an animated series on Nickelodeon.
The first episode premiered 22 February here on the Nick Jr. YouTube channel, with the series launching 19 April on Nickelodeon for another nine episodes. Following the US launch, the series rolls out on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. internationally later in 2025. The PR talks of 26 half-hour episodes across seasons one and two.
The 2D-animated preschool series is based on Jamie’s The Superhero Bunny League, two books from 2019 from Oxford University Press for young and reluctant readers. They were silly and wonderful, just like any of Smart’s books.

Superhero Bunny League and now Super Duper Bunny League are all about four rabbits exposed to a mutating ray and getting, as you do, strange superpowers. It’s up to them to stop arguing long enough to save their city from their archnemesis (and accidental creator) Dr Fuzzleglove and more threats.
Here’s a few screenshot/PR images to show you how the animated Bunnies will look…

Here’s Nick Jr’s PR for this one…
‘In Super Duper Bunny League, a team of bunnies turned superheroes is ready to battle danger in all its forms as they defend Important City from their archnemesis (and accidental creator), the inept Dr. Fuzzleglove, and a ridiculous rogues’ gallery of cartoony villains. Whether battling sweet-toothed space pirates, sizzling lava monsters, giant metal monkeys or hot dog-hungry dinosaurs, the Bunnies must combine their new superpowers to defend truth, justice, and especially free time to snack and chill.’
The premiere episode (out now on YouTube and airing 19 April on Nick USA) is Super Duper Bunnies/Chocolate Bunnies!, telling the origin tale of how ordinary bunnies became the Super Duper Bunny League and how Dr Annabelle saves Easter from an evil villain with a chocolate chip on his shoulder.
Super Duper Bunny League is produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, California, with Robert Scull and Jonny Belt serving as executive producers and Jamie Smart as consultant on the series. The voice cast includes:
‘Miles J. Harvey as super stretchy Stumpy; H Michael Croner as mega-strong Handsome Steve; Michaela Dietz as the electrifyingly powerful Bex; Timothy Latrice Royale Wilcots as gigantic yet empathetic Derek; Ramona Young as brilliantly smart Dr. Annabelle; and Janelle James as the narrator. Lending their voices as special characters in the series are: Fred Stoller as Dr. Fuzzleglove; Flula Borg as Doc Choc; Carol Kane as Captain Stickybeard; Laraine Newman as Mrs. Fuzzleglove/Mrs. Rubberglove; Patton Oswalt as Lizard Lips; Danny Trejo as Alberto; Patrick Warburton as Awesome Guy; and more.’
All we can say is well done to Jamie, one genuinely lovely guy who’s been making riotously funny and brilliantly deranged comics for so long now. We love everything he’s done, whether for kids or adults, and we hope that Super Duper Bunny League is a huge success.
We’ve embedded the first episode on YouTube below. Jamie says it’s a US-only thing – but isn’t that what VPNs are for?)
