Designer Antonio Jimenez Discusses ‘Lord Arthus The Entangled’ — Now Swinging On Kickstarter

As you may know, I’m a lover of all things sword & sorcery. Between my position as Editor-in-Chief of the sword & sorcery magazine Tales from the Magician’s Skull or my ever growing library of novels, comics, and TTRPG, I have well solidified my fandom from every possible side. This, of course, does not stop me from getting excited when I find something new that seems like it will be a perfect fit for my collection. I am here to tell you friends I have discovered something double delightful on Kickstarter.

I give you Lord Arthus the Entangled! This elemental dark knight is a product of a lifelong passion for all things video games, manga and medieval by the Antonio Jimenez, an illustrator, animator, and now, toy designer. I got an opportunity to sit down and talk to Antonio about Lord Arthus the Entangled and his journey from pixel to play thing. You can find the interview below.

Anton: Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me Antonio. Before we dig too deep into this delightful little dude can you tell our readers a little bit about yourself?

Antonio Jimenez: Hello Anton, thank you so much for having me here! I’m a Brooklyn based Digital Creative and most recently, Toy Designer. I also love video games and try to hit the gym every week. My personal motto is “Stay busy”!

Anton: Now how did you decide you wanted to craft a cool little knight?

Antonio: I’ve been an Illustrator my whole life, and love drawing with all my heart. Fast forward to 2025 – I have a 6 year old son, so you can imagine the amount of toys in my house! Being surrounded by all kinds of toys – assembling them and learning how they work, I said to myself hey, you should have a go at this. Arthus has been appearing in my sketchbook for years now, so he was the perfect candidate for my first true toy design.

Anton: Have you worked in action figures or toys before?

Antonio: This is my very first toy design, which makes this Kickstarter campaign extra special to me. It’s been an incredible learning experience and I’ve met some of the nicest people along the way.

Anton: What inspired you to take this journey?

Antonio: I felt that I was getting a little complacent in my creativity. As much as I love settling in with Procreate on my iPad for a few hours, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone this year. As you know personally, Anton, launching a Kickstarter is a complex undertaking! But I told myself that I’m going to do this and see it through to the end, no matter what.

Anton: Now these are only limited to 100 figures. Are there plans to make variants of Arthus with different colorways down the road?

Antonio: Since launching the Arthus Kickstarter, I have at least half a dozen napkin sketches of new figure ideas ready to expand on. However if this campaign succeeds, I plan on working more closely with my fan base to get their input on future releases.

Anton: Is Arthus the Entangled part of a larger story or world?

Antonio: Absolutely! A few supporting characters already exist in the Arthus universe. You can see them in the Digital Bundle reward in the Kickstarter; Zoe, Summoner Zoe, and the Colossal Manwolf. Who they are, and the true origins of Arthus will be revealed if this Kickstarter is successful.
