Kickstarting Comics: ‘Dead Men’s Laughter’ #1 One-Shot

Dead Man’s Laughter #1 is a new one-shot comic currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter and doing rather well having already smashed it’s initial target of a very modest £650. Written by Will O’Mullane with art by Marco Perugini, lettering by Jonathan Stevenson its as a gritty Brit horror/crime comic – think The Long Good Friday or The Limey — but with a good dose of horror. Here’s the cover, blurb and preview:

“Centered around the twilight days & hours of Harry and Russell — two elderly criminals, and one time best friends, brought together but simultaneously split apart by a crime committed in their youth … But that crime rears its ugly head once more, and threatens to destroy the lives they have built up for themselves!”

The one-shot will feature an eleven-page, full-colour story with extra content; sample scripts and process commentary. And if the creators hit their strech goal (and it’s very close) backers will also received a black and white version of the comic at no extra cost. And like a lot of good comic book campaigns for indie comics, the gang have wisely chosen just a few pledges ranging from a physicla and digital copy, plus art cards for £10 to the back-issue tier at just £25, which gets you the comic, and copies of Establishing Shot (O’Mullane’s first 40-page anthology; Second Chances anthology, and two art cards.
