Marvel Comics Reveals Final ‘Phineas & Ferb’ Variant Cover

by Tony Thornley

There’s 104 days of summer vacation, and school just comes along to end it… But the ongoing problem on Marvel’s Phineas & Ferb variant covers is supervillains, not finding a new way to spend it.

After revealing the first two covers celebrating the return of Disney Television Animation’s flagship series last month, the final cover by series co-creator Dan Povenmire has been revealed by Marvel depicting Phineas, Ferb, Buford and Isabella as the Fantastic Four!

Phineas & Ferb chronicled the greatest summer vacation ever, as the titular boys made sure they were doing SOMETHING every day, their big sister Candace kept trying to bust them, and their pet platypus Perry fought the forces of evil as Agent P. The series still resonates with fans today, and even crossed over with the Marvel Universe and Star Wars in its original run.

In June, artist Jacob Chabot and Povenmire reimagine the series leads as some of the Marvel Universe’s greatest heroes. Chabot’s covers for Avengers #27 and X-Men #17 reimagine Strange Tales #167, with Perry in place of Nick Fury, and New Mutants #50, seeing Candace become the ruler of Limbo. Meanwhile Povenmire’s cover for Fantastic Four #33 will see the boys joined by Isabella and Buford as Marvel’s first family.

The Phineas & Ferb revival debuts on June 5 on Disney Plus and the Disney Channel. All three covers are available throughout the month of June from Marvel Comics.
