Amanda Conner Provides Two Covers For August’s ‘Harley Quinn X Elvira’ #1 From Dynamite

by Erik Amaya

Amanda Conner is so thrilled to bring Harley Quinn and Elvira together that she just had to draw two covers for Dynamite’s Harley Quinn X Elvira #1.

The artist, along with Jimmy Palmiotti, serves as writer on the crossover; the two wrote the DC’s Harley Quinn comic in the 2010s. Their new tale sees Harley starting her day with a bout of boredom. Meanwhile, Elvira’s show is at risk from the network suits and the forever need to cut costs. Dynamite promises what happens next will be the “ridiculous Halloween party ever seen.”

“I’ve been fortunate to have experienced a lot of crazy parties, both as attendee and host, with guest lists that would make your eyeballs pop out. And recently, in comics, I’ve crossed paths with many unexpected characters, but this is one of my most exciting yet!,” Elvira creator Cassandra Peterson said in a statement.”The party invite is open to all my fans, and Harley’s too!”

Conner also said, “What I remember about first discovering Elvira is wanting to be like her … She’s got that sense of humor, that love of horror and comedy, and that hair and boobs and gorgeousness, all dialed up to eleven. I think she was (and still is) a great role model for all us weird girls.”

“When we were offered this crossover with Elvira, it was the easiest thing in the world to make it work for us,” added Palmiotti. “Die hard fans of our work will feel like we never left Harley, while at the same time, we can take her on a new adventure with her new friend Elvira. This series is so much fun.”

Juan Samu joins the duo on art duties while Conner contributes contributes some pages herself throughout the six-issue series. Covers include the two by Conner for issue #1 and contributions from Joseph Michael Linsner, Ben Caldwell, Mark Spears, and frequent Harley Quinn collaborator Chad Hardin.

Harley Quinn X Elvira #1 hits comic shops this August.
