Streaming and Screaming — ‘Jodorowsky’s Dune’

A decade has passed since the release of Jodorowsky’s Dune. The stranger-than-fiction documentary details the legendary unmade adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune novel as a psychedelic arthouse film. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this documentary renewed interest not only in Alejandro Jodorowsky as a creator, but also in Herbert’s Dune saga, The Incal, Heavy Metal Magazine, and by extension European adult sci-fi/fantasy comics. Jodorowsky’s Dune has had a seismic impact on me as a creative person. Now that Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune is part of mainstream pop culture, Jodorowsky’s Dune documentary is well worth rediscovering.
