‘Here’s a cute little project that’s been knocking around (with zillions of others) inside my brain for maybe 20 years or so. Thanks to the Minicomic DUNE get-together, I finally cranked out these two pages. I never draw all that well outside the privacy of my studio, but I am happy to get these out of my head and into something I can live with on paper’

And it was stumbling across that Andy Kubert art that got me going down a rabbit hole of Kubert Senior’s Sgt Rock art, of which there is a lot, and it’s all so damn good.
Joe Kubert created Sgt Rock with Robert Kanigher, first appearing in Our Army at War #83 (June 1959). Kubert’s art on it is an absolute joy to see.
