Lex Luthor Declares Himself The Enemy In Final ‘Superman’ Trailer

Since Superman began its development as Superman: Legacy, it has been unclear just who the Man of Tomorrow’s (David Corenswet) primary antagonist would be. At one point, it seemed to be The Authority. But as this final trailer for the film makes clear, it is — naturally enough — Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) pulling the strings as he declares his opposition to Superman in no uncertain terms.
Oh, but look at Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) also antagonizing the Last Son of Krypton. Will we get a “one punch” moment? We certainly hope so. It is also become clear that The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría) is working with Luthor for some reason. We also know from other material that a version of Ultraman will be on the scene. Nevertheless, Luthor is the primary opponent. As he puts in the trailer, “they chose him, let them die,” which is the motivation of the modern Luthor. Between that and the other new glimpses of the film — Krypto fighting alongside Clark! — we can’t wait to see how it all plays out when Superman flies into theaters on July 11th.
