Marvel Comics Returns To Duckberg In ‘Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck’

Last year, Marvel Comics published their first Disney-universe original comic starring Scrooge McDuck. Now, the publisher is returning to Duckberg in a new four issue limited series Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck.
Comics superstar Jason Aaron returns to tell this totally new story in August, starring the duck that’s tougher than the toughies and smarter than the smarties. He’s bringing with him some of the greatest artists currently working in comics to help him tell the tale, including Mahmud Asrar, Giuseppe Cammuncoli, Ario Anindito and Ciro Cangialosi. The series will also feature covers by other comics superstars like Gabriele Dell’Otto and Mark Brooks.
In Uncle Scrooge: Earth’s Mightiest Duck, the planet has been conquered by alien invaders known as the Connoisseurs, nefarious hoarders of the rarest antiquities from throughout the cosmos. As they tear the Earth apart, pillaging its fabled treasures, only the world’s greatest adventurer can possibly stop them. But Scrooge McDuck is facing a battle unlike any he’s ever fought, trapped inside his own mind, fighting to preserve his most precious memories.
“Scrooge McDuck is one of the greatest heroes in the history of comics, bar none,” Aaron said. “It was a thrill to get to write him in the pages of Uncle Scrooge & the Infinity Dime, as we took him on a journey across the multiverse. With this new series, I knew we’d have to go bigger, not just by incorporating more Marvel artists into the mix, but by sending Scrooge on the most epic story of his career, as he fights to save the one thing more precious to him than gold or any exotic treasure: his own memories of a life of adventure.”
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Aaron’s Uncle Scrooge & The Infinity Dime. It featured Marvel style storytelling with the heart and humor you could only find in the world of Duckberg. Seeing Aaron get to play with a longer form story is going to be fun, and seeing this fantastic art line-up makes it even more exciting. From the themes of the story, I’m guessing Asrar, Cammuncoli and the others are going to be telling flashback stories to Scrooge’s younger days, which is perfect for these superstars.
