Konami And Bloober Team Team Up To Remake The Original ‘Silent Hill’
by Sage Ashford
Bloober Team’s work on the Silent Hill 2 remake created one of the best-received games of 2024, so it shouldn’t be surprising that Konami recently confirmed development of a new title remaking the original Silent Hill during their “Konami Press Start” stream. There was no release date given, but given Konami already has Silent Hill f coming out later this year and Bloober Team has Cronos: The New Dawn. So it’s safe to say this project is likely early in development. For the best really, since Silent Hill becoming an annual release would ruin the resurgence the franchise has been enjoying.
Interestingly, unless something changes, this will mean the best way to play both of the original titles will be through their remakes. Although there is a Silent Hill HD Collection, it was only on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Since PlayStation doesn’t have backwards compatibility for the PS3, the HD Collection is locked to Xbox players only. While these remakes are great for brand-new fans, hopefully Konami will take the steps soon to offer a collection on current platforms for people who want to play the original games.
