More Marvel/DC Comics Crossovers We Want To See

After the huge announcement of DC Comics and Marvel Comics’ first intercompany crossover in nearly twenty years — Deadpool/Batman — the publishers announced several back-up stories that would accompany the first special, with more to come soon. 

Last week, we got a follow-up to that announcement, with back-ups featuring Daredevil/Green Arrow, Jeff the Land Shark/Krypto and Captain America/Wonder Woman from A-list creative teams. We were excited to see what was announced there, but we would love to catch up from all the years we didn’t get these crossovers. So here’s our list of what we’d like to see next.

Spider-Man/Harley Quinn

Honestly, this isn’t so much of a wish as it is an educated guess. Marvel and DC have said more is coming, and they didn’t just mean the back-up stories. Well, if you look at Batman/Deadpool, it’s not hard to see what’s likely next. You have DC’s #1 hero with Marvel’s star that has risen the most since the last crossover. You reverse that, pairing Marvel’s #1 hero with DC’s most meteoric rise, and you get Spider-Man/Harley Quinn. And honestly, that’s a pretty interesting pairing, seeing Peter Parker getting paired with an agent of chaos, but one that’s VERY different than Deadpool.

I don’t even like Harley Quinn, and I think it’d be a lot of fun.

Blue Beetle/Ms. Marvel

There’s no two characters that have proven how important legacy heroes are than Jaime Reyes and Kamala Khan. They’re both young enthusiastic heroes from completely different but equally unique cultural backgrounds. They’re similar in important ways, but different in ways that ensures the story wouldn’t be boring.

They’re the heroes that represent the 21st century best, and it would be fantastic to see them together.

Black Panther/Green Lantern

At first, it’s an unexpected pairing- a sci-fi tinged king whose adventures usually lean towards spy thrillers and political intrigue getting paired with a space cop/former Marine — but when you think about it, T’Challa and John Stewart just make sense, and not just because they’re the most prominent black heroes at each publisher. They both are ordinary men thrust into roles bigger than themselves, rising above that to become something greater. They both wield otherworldly power, but remain relatable and very human. And you have to admit, watching them battle it out with each other’s rogues would be cool as hell.

Wonder Woman/ She-Hulk

Jennifer Walters is a thoroughly modern woman, embracing her femininity and power as She-Hulk while being completely independent as a world-class lawyer. Princess Diana is the representative of a race of warrior women to man’s world, a defender of those smaller than her, while being an ambassador of peace and compassion. While pairing both publishers’ most physically powerful women is obvious just from the standpoint of watching them brawl with mythological beasts and science monsters would look cool as hell, you have to admit the things that make them popular would make the story a must read.

Captain America/ Superman

They’re the two ultimate paragons of doing the right thing. Both are defenders of truth and justice. They both stand up for what’s right, regardless of what stands in their way. And honestly, it would probably work best as a two-parter, pairing Clark Kent first with Steve Rogers. Clark and Steve would find themselves relating because of their similarities, their slightly out of touch behaviors and their innate sense of doing the right thing. Following that up with Clark and Sam Wilson would give both men an opportunity to find common ground with their sense of social justice and their ability to inspire.

Suicide Squad/Wolverine

This would simply be an all-fight comic, and you have to admit it would be fun as hell. All you need to do is come up with a MacGuffin reason for Amanda Waller to send Task Force X after Wolverine, then spend the next 40 pages (because it would have to be double sized at least) with Logan brawling against some of the most brutal anti-heroes and villains the DC Universe has to offer.

Bonus points for the longer the one-on-one between Wolverine and King Shark runs.

X-Men/Titans

The one and only direct follow-up to a past DC/Marvel crossover I’ll include, but you can’t deny that no franchise at each publisher have grown and changed as much as the X-Men and the Titans. It would be fantastic to put them side by side again and see how the X-Men of today would work with the latest Titans. Hell, it would be fun just for the Cyclops/Nightwing staredown ending  in mutual respect.

Bat-Family/Spider-Verse

I mean, they’re the biggest selling heroes from both publisher, but you know there’s a great way to pair the Bats and the Spiders, simply by putting the families together. In the past, they were both more or less loners (despite Batman at least working with Robin for at least half of all his stories). What’s different now though is how large each family is. So yes, have Peter and Bruce front and center, but pair Jessica and Kate, Miles and Damien, Gwen with the girls, and add Terry McGuinness and Miguel O’Hara to make it even better.
