Bandai Offers A Nine Minute Trailer For ‘Digimon Story: Time Stranger’

Despite giving the game a release date, Bandai-Namco surprisingly hadn’t shown off much of their upcoming open-world RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger. The publisher looks to change that now with a nine minute video showing more of the game’s environments, battle systems, and Digimon.

Time Stranger offers players the ability to travel between both the Digital World: Illiad and the human world, with the Digital World getting more attention than ever. Shockingly detailed, Time Stranger seems to want to capture the wonder that Digimon fans felt when they first experienced the anime. Looking at it, the new Digital World inspires the same wonder I experienced when first watching Digimon Adventure 01. With dozens of Digimon to interact with and side quests to take from them, it looks like players will be spending a lot of time in this version of the Digital World.

Fortunately, combat looks more fun and well thought out than usual, with each encounter helping the player work towards creating their ideal Digimon party. Meanwhile boss battles look to vary based on the Digimon players bring into it, meaning having a varied party can only be more helpful.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth felt more like a game that appealed solely to Digimon super-fans, but Time Stranger seems like it’s aiming for one step further. It looks like it wants to be a great RPG that also happens to be about Digimon. With Digimon Beat Break airing in the fall, it seems like fans might be about to experience another peak.
