Magnetic Press has announced Ogrest: The Storm Before the Tears, an official graphic novel prequel to the globally beloved Wakfu universe, now live on Kickstarter. Spanning over 1000 pages across five volumes, this collection dives into the mythic past of the World of Twelve, and the heartbreak that shattered it forever.
Written and illustrated by David “Mig” Laurent, Ogrest is a sweeping dark fantasy epic chronicling the untold transformation of a child-like being into one of the most feared and misunderstood figures in the Wakfu universe created by French studio Ankama. What begins as a tender story of love and identity soon unravels into a mythic tragedy shaped by betrayal, divine ambition, and the devastating cost of unchecked power.
Told across five gorgeously illustrated volumes, Ogrest explores the complex bonds between creation and creator, love and loss, and the price of power. It expands on key figures from the Wakfu universe with nuance and depth, offering both longtime fans and newcomers a richly layered entry point. Magnetic Press is bringing the entire saga to English-speaking fans for the first time in this collector’s edition campaign.
Set during the ancient Age of the Dofus, hidden away on a tranquil island, Ogrest knows only peace—until his beloved, the divine doll Dathura, mysteriously vanishes and the powerful artifacts known as the Primordial Dofus are stolen. In a desperate attempt to bring her back, Ogrest embarks on a perilous journey to recover the remaining Dofus—fabled dragon eggs of immense power—with hopes of granting Dathura’s wish to become human.
But what begins as a mission of love spirals into obsession. As divine conspiracies and political rivalries unfold around him, Ogrest becomes a vessel for something much larger—an unchecked force of grief and destruction. His sorrow unleashes a magical flood so devastating, it ends an era, reshaping the world and ushering in the Wakfu Era.
