SDCC 2025 — ‘Magic: The Gathering x Spider-Man’ Experience Brings A Little Bit Of Queens To America’s Finest City

by Gary Catig

We have known about the Magic: The Gathering and Marvel collaboration since last fall. At San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), the two brands are working together with an activation called the Magic: The Gathering x Spider-Man experience.

It’s an excellent opportunity for hands on gameplay with the upcoming Spider-Man expansion set. They have five different decks to preview, each representing one of the customized card game’s colors and a Spider-Man character. You can select from Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider, Spider-Man 2099, and Venom. There are many experts in the gaming section to guide you through gameplay, and after you’re done, you will receive a voucher for a free comic book.

Also at the activation are numerous photo opportunities bringing you the colorful character of Peter Parker’s hometown of Queens, New York, alongside giant versions of character cards from the set. We saw a Spectacular Spider-Man, Spider-Ham, and Sp//dr just to name a few. Don’t forget to visit the Daily Bugle on your way out walking through the news room, and even J. Jonah Jameson’s office.

All in all, the Magic The Gathering x Spider-Man experience is a quality SDCC 2025 offsite. And, you can’t forget the SWAG. You receive one of the five Spider-Man character decks, a Daily Bugle paper which doubles as a game pad, and an Amazing Spider-Man (2025) #1 variant cover.

It runs from July 24th-26th from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, and July 27th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. You can sign up here for your own slot.

We also have to mention during the press preview, we were treated to an intimate concert from Hollis, Queens’ own Darryl “DMC” McDaniels. Even without Run, he rocked the house bringing the hits such as “Walk This Way,” “It’s Tricky,” and a personal favorite, “Peter Piper”.
