SDCC 2025: Trailer Round Up

Peacemaker Season 1 was an unlikely success that took one of the most ridiculous characters from The Suicide Squad and made him a deeply-flawed superhero. Season 2 picks up after the events of James Gunn’s Superman film and sees several returning characters like Green Lantern and Hawk Girl. This new chapter in the DCU appears to be bold and bonkers and I’m here for it!
Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21st on HBO Max.
Prey managed to do the impossible and resurrect what’s visceral and badass about the Predator films while also winning over new audiences. Director Dan Trachtenberg continues his unique vision in Predator: Badlands where a young Predator (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) searches for the ultimate kill on a remote planet. The Predator finds and unlikely ally in Thia (Elle Fanning), a malfunctioning android. The dynamic between these two contrary characters looks like a lot of fun.
The hunt begins for Predator: Badlands in theaters November 7th.
After being blown away by The Handmaiden, Park Chan-wook has become a director on my radar. While there have been some misfires in recent projects his next film appears to be a return to form for his thriller roots. Based on the novel by Donald Westlake, No Other Choice follows mans increasing desperation after he’s laid off from a company where he has worked tirelessly for many years.
The Boys spin-off Gen V returns for another season of America’s college for superheroes. The season promises more conspiracy theories, gore, and mayhem. However, with all of the dark and deconstructionist superhero films and TV out there Gen V may have to pull off something really unique to stand out.
I recently discovered the original Spartacus TV series which can best be described as “don’t worry kids we have 300 at home.” Spartacus is undeniably trashy and revels in over-the-top sex and violence. However, the mind-games and political maneuvering did make for compelling drama and the character of Ashur was at the center of said mind-games. Spartacus has had uneven quality since season 1, it remains to be seen if making an Spartacus: House of Ashur was the right move.
It: Welcome to Derry is a TV prequel series set in the 1960s, that will follow the events leading up to the story of the first film in the Stephen King It series. Fans of the films should look forward to Bill Skardsgard returning as Pennywise.
