Image Comics Collects ‘Phantom Road’ And ‘Hyde Street’ In Trade Paperbacks

by Olly MacNamee

The latest collection of Phantom Road (issues #11-15) and the first collection of Hyde Street (issue #1-7) are coming out this October from Image Comics.

Phantom Road is a supernatural mystery series by writer Jeff Lemire and artist Gabriel Hernández Walta. This latest volume “plunges readers deeper into its eerie mythology — where strange leylines, monstrous entities, and a web of roadside horrors all lead back to a hair-raising conspiracy known as Project Jackknife.”

“Set in 1997, fans follow Agent Donald Weaver as he’s dispatched to rural Wisconsin to probe a string of grisly murders. Teamed with the unpredictable Agent Jimmy Harold, Weaver unearths something far more disturbing: a pattern connecting the Billy Bear truck stops, supernatural energy fields, and an ancient Evil bleeding through the cracks of reality.

The clues are piling up, but the truth is darker — and more dangerous — than anyone imagined.

With its signature mix of cryptic suspense, emotional depth, and jaw-dropping revelations, Phantom Road continues to grip fans of Twin Peaks, The Department of Truth, The X-Files, Gideon Falls, and Revival with its unique, atmospheric world building.”

Here’s a look at this third volume:

Phantom Road, Volume Three trade paperback is out in comic book stores on Wednesday, October 8th and in bookstores on Tuesday, October 21st.

Now, if you head up Phantom Road and then take a right, you’ll get to Hyde Street. Another spooky corner of comicdom from Ghost Machine, writer Geoff Johns artist Ivan Reis, colourist Brad Anderson, inker Danny Miki, and  letterer Rob Leigh.

“In every city and town, off every country road and metropolis avenue, if you make a wrong turn…you might find yourself on Hyde Street. And that’s where the nightmare begins … Because the residents of Hyde Street aren’t exactly neighbors you want to borrow sugar from. With residents such as Mr. X-Ray, Pranky: The World’s Most Dangerous Scout, Miss Goodbody, Doctor Ego, The Matinee Monster, and controlled by the mysterious Score Keeper, Hyde Street holds unimaginable secrets—and untold terrors. What is Hyde Street? A place? A punishment? A reflection of something far more sinister? Cracking the spine on Hyde Street, Vol. 1 is the only way to find out.”
