Reviewing WizKids’ ‘Icons Of The Realms: Ghost Light’

My pals at WizKids have really knocked it out of the park with their upcoming Dungeons & Dragons Icons of the Realms: Ghost Light miniature set. There is so much to love in this collection, from the Lizardfolk Render to the various blights to the brilliantly horrific Corpse Flower. This whole set is teaming with some of the coolest offerings WizKids has put out to date.
What stands out to me in this set is the same thing that works for me in previous collections like Seas & Shores or Sand & Stone. These sets do a fantastic job of not only feeling diverse in the creatures and characters you can discover, but they also feel totally cohesive and provide you a wide array of miniatures that work together in a bunch of fun ways. You can really shape some amazing encounters at the table with this kind of collection, and that sometimes can get the ball started or provide a really memorable moment at the table.
I have recently been looking through secondary markets for a handful of minis I want to table, and the start elevation of quality in paint and design that are in these new batches of minis from WizKids is mind-boggling. There really are some astonishing things happening in these booster boxes.
Even the more easy-to-come-by minis have a ton of attention to detail put into them, and some of these larger offerings have a ton of detail and can make for a heavy encounter or even serve as a big bad for lower-level campaigns. The sculpt and paint on the Corpse Flower miniature is, pardon the pun, such a level up from other sculpts I have seen of the same creature.
This whole set just oozes with such life. It makes sense, as it’s based on swamp-like settings teaming with all sorts of muck and mire, that this is where you are going to find the most vibrant and verdant villains to terrorize your table with.

Until next time, the Lizardfolk in this series are seriously standout, and I would buy boxes of just those guys provided the level of detail being given to them keeps up, and I see nothing that indicates it would not.
