Harley and Elvira are proving a successful pairing.
According to Dynamite, Harley Quinn X Elvira #1 has cleared over 91,000 units. A true feat worthy of the duo and the creative team, which includes writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner, and artist Juan Samu. The story sees Harley starting her day with a bout of boredom. Meanwhile, Elvira’s show is at risk from the network suits and the forever need to cut costs. What occurs next is something the company called the most “ridiculous Halloween party ever seen.”
At the time of the book’s announcement, Conner said in a statement, “What do you get when you slam a Maid of Mischief and a Mistress of the Dark together? Sheer chaos, escapades and fun! Holee pandemolee, who wouldn’t wanna see the Vivacious Elvira and the Hijinky Harley Quinn get together for a bunch of wisecracking and clowning around? And a bit of naughtiness. Okay. Maybe a lot. I can’t wait to work on this book!”
“When we were offered this crossover with Elvira, it was the easiest thing in the world to make it work for us,” added Palmiotti. “Die hard fans of our work will feel like we never left Harley, while at the same time, we can take her on a new adventure with her new friend Elvira. This series is so much fun.”
Palmiotti also spoke with our own Rachel Bellwoar about returning to Harley, Poison Ivy’s reaction to the team-up and more earlier this week.
The first issue features two covers by Conner in addition to contributions by Joseph Michael Linsner, Ben Caldwell, Mark Spears, and Chad Hardin.
