by Olly MacNamee
By the time you read this, J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist’s Edition Kickstarter, from Skybound/Image Comics and Act 4 Publishing, has been live for nearly 24 hours. And it’s already smashed its initial goal of $40,000 by a country mile. And then some. At the time of writing, it’s already reached over $250,000 and is still climbing.

But, for those of you unaware of this blast from the past, loving represented in a 12” x 17” hardcover Artist’s Edition book, with over 150 pages covering the original Danger Girl miniseries (1998), as well as well covers from various Danger Girl books, model sheets, illustrations, rare sketches, page breakdowns and more; all scanned from the original art. All with a new introduction from Campbell himself.
Here’s the blurb for the campaign:
“Grab your passport and join us on an enthralling expedition into the high-stakes world of international action and intrigue, courtesy of Abbey Chase! Adventurer, freebooter and all-round troubleshooter, Abbey Chase’s life is a fast and furious series of wild expeditions and hazardous pursuits. Recruited into an elite, all-female secret agent team and thrust headlong into a global conspiracy of epic proportions, Abbey’s lifestyle just went from devil-may-care to ballistic!”
As ever, there are various prices – sorry, pledges – for any-sized wallet, starting at $50 for the The Danger Yacht – Retailer Only Tier and running up to ¢1,250 for the Abbey Chase – Abbey Remarque edition, which has already sold out.

As well as the J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist’s Edition, there is also the opportunity to grab a second book, The Wildsiderz Artist’s Edition, which showcases J. Scott Campbell’s pencild for his Wildsiderz miniseries. “
“Featuring never-before-published original artwork, this exclusive edition provides fans with a unique opportunity to experience a historic project that has remained largely unseen… until now!”
Talking of this new campaign for a ’90s classic, Campbell said:
“It was already exciting to announce my very first original artwork volume with Danger Girl Artist’s Edition, and it’s even more of a thrill to be launching two books at once with the addition of a volume dedicated to the pencil art of Wildsiderz! Between these two hardcovers, fans will appreciate two different aspects of my original artwork up close and life-size.”
Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound added:
“Surprise! We’re thrilled to be bringing you not just one but TWO Artist’s Editions in one glorious campaign! J. Scott Campbell fans AND fans of breathtaking original art are eating well…and we’re just getting started! Stay tuned for even MORE surprises!”
The J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist’s Edition campaign is live now on Kickstarter, with stretch goals and campaign-exclusive products to be announced through the close of the campaign on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, at 12 p.m. PT. Who knows how much it will have raised by then?
