‘Jaws Goes To The Bahamas’ Promises The Story Behind ‘Jaws: The Revenge’

Longtime Comicon.com readers will recall Editor-in-Chief Erik Amaya wrote a weekly column in which he discussed his favorite cheesy movies. One of those selections: Jaws: The Revenge. As the fourth film in the Jaws series, it was an example of diminishing returns for Universal and yet a compulsively watchable movie despite its many flaws.
Now, filmmaker Mike Gencarelli is setting out to tell the story of how it got made. His documentary, Jaws Goes to the Bahamas, is currently funding on IndieGoGo. Featuring interviews with star Lance Guest, who played Michael Brody, underwater camera operator Pete Romano, Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante, and others, it aims to tell the story of filming The Revenge and why it became a cult classic in the 40 years since its release.
Needless to say, our editor-in-chief is thrilled to see someone tackling the subject. Maybe he’ll finally decide to make a documentary himself about the making of Deathstalker II.
As a fan-made documentary, the film needs plenty of support even though it reached its initial funding goal. Meanwhile, it is planned for a 2027 release to coincide with Jaws: The Revenge‘s 40th anniversary.
