COMICS CULTURAL IMPACT COLLECTIVE – UK COMICS CREATOR SURVEY 2025…
The Comics Cultural Impact Collective (CCIC) is ‘an independent group of professionals within the UK comics community, working together with the aim of raising awareness of the cultural impact of comics.’
It’s precisely the sort of thing that’s needed in comics, an organisation that actively works to promote comics and works with creators to make things better for all.
In 2020, they were part of the first-ever national survey of comics creators, where the results were, as they put it, ‘sobering, fascinating, and somehow extremely heartwarming overview of the comics scene.’
Now it’s time for a second comic creator survey to find out just where things are headed, with a view to looking at how things have changed in the last five years and where things may be going.
So, if you’re a comics creator based in the UK, over 16, who makes comics – or intends to make comics – for public consumption, there’s an online, anonymous survey you need to be filling out right now. Head here to fill it in, 10 minutes of your time, essential to give CCIC a snapshot of what’s going on.
LEGENDARY UNDERGROUND COMIX CREATOR GILBERT SHELTON AT GALWAY CARTOON FESTIVAL – 4 & 5 OCTOBER…
Yes, the creator of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Fat Freddy’s Cat, an underground comix legend if ever there was one, is set to appear at Ireland’s Galway Cartoon Festival on Saturday 4th October to give a talk about his life and work. Better still, he’ll be talking with Hunt Emerson, one of Britain’s finest cartoonists.
The free talk happens at PorterShed a Dó, Market Street, at 2pm on Saturday 4th October. Shelton will also be in Sub City, Corbett Court Shopping Centre, on Sunday 5th October from 5pm to 6pm, to meet fans and sign copies of his work.

ACE WEEKLY VOLUME 76 – OUT NOW…
If you didn’t already know, Aces Weekly is a digital comics weekly anthology created by David Lloyd. Every Monday evening, once you’ve signed up for the ridiculously low price of £1 per week (in any currency), you get some fabulous comic shorts and serials delivered to you in 20-page chunks as part of 7-part volumes of up to 150 pages.
It’s a great anthology, home to a hell of a lot of great creators over the years, including John McCrea, Marc Hempel, David Lloyd, Yishan Li, Henry Flint, Lew Stringer, Rachael Smith, Dylan Teague, and so many more.
