Kickstarting Comics: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strip’ Softcover Editions Are Live

It wasn’t just Star Wars that made its pop cultural debut in 1977. This is also the year that everyone’s favourite neighbourhood Spider-Man swung into newsprint, launching on Monday, January 3rd, 1977, and written by Stan Lee, and illustrated daily by John Romita Sr.
Now, for the first time in a softcover collection, Stan Lee and John Romita’s The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strip is to be collected by Clover Press’ as part of its new line of deluxe slipcase editions. And you can back it now on the Kickstarter campaign page here.
Clover Publisher Hank Kanalz explained why this softcover is so important to Spidey fans:
“The Library of American Comics remastered and collected the strip in a series of hardcover collections—but so many of them are out of print, making the collection highly sought after and almost impossible for your average comics lover to get their hands on. Now, Clover Press and The Library of American Comics are bringing the collections back to print in an affordable softcover format! We’re collecting the strip strictly by year, reprinting each installment from January 1 to December 31. We can’t wait to help get these iconic comic strips into the hands of Spidey lovers everywhere!”
The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strip campaign features four volumes, collecting the first four years of publication from 1977 – 1980. Each volume measures 11″ x 8.5″ in a horizontal format and comes in a vertical slipcase.
