NYCC 2025: Greg Weisman And Tad Stones Unite For Dynamite’s ‘Gargoyles/Darkwing Duck’ In January

by Erik Amaya

The new year brings a crossover Disney Afternoon fans have only dreamed of until now.

Dynamite announced on Tuesday the upcoming Gargoyles/Darkwing Duck — a grand meet up of the two Disney animated series via comic books. And to spearhead the first meeting between DW and the Manhattan Clan are Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman and Darkwing Duck creator Tad Stones. On art duties: Ciro Cangialosi. Letterer Fabio Amelia completes the team.

Via a a mysterious magic mirror, Demona recruits Morgana Macawber to her cause. As a result, Darkwing Duck and Launchpad McQuack take to the Thunderquack and make for Manhattan. There, they soon meet Goliath and Elisa. It may lead to a hero-versus-hero confrontation, but we imagine the misunderstandings will be made clear soon enough — in fact, we bet Goslyn will show up in the nick of time to explain why they’re visiting from St. Canard. After that, it won’t be long before all assembled turn their attention to the real problem.

“Greg had no problem entering DW’s world since he was part of the show’s development from the start,” Stones said in a statement. “We traded notes and I even sketched out visual gags when words failed me. Working with teams of creative artists and writers has always been the best part of my career, and this crossover is a new highlight.”

“When I started in development at Walt Disney Television Animation, the first show I ever worked on was Darkwing Duck, learning the gig under Tad,” Weisman added. “So nothing seems more appropriate than for Tad and I to team up to bring fans of both properties to this crossover event!”

Supporting the debut will be covers from Ivan Bigarella, Clayton Henry, and Declan Shalvey. Stones and Cangialosi also provide covers.

Gargoyles/Darkwing Duck #1 arrives in January.
