NYCC 2025 — ‘Magic: The Gathering X Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Is On Its Way

Magic: The Gathering has done it again!
Wizards of the Coast, alongside Nickelodeon, announced at a special New York Comic Con 2025 panel that the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be joining the massive multiverse of Magic: The Gathering!
The first looks of these cards showcase a set that is not only mechanically interesting, but also visually stunning. I’m always going to be a bit partial to the “heroes on a half shell” as I grew up with them, enjoyed the comic, cartoon, and live action movies, and have followed the vast majority of their exploits most of my life. This, of course, paired with my love of Magic: The Gathering, has provided a delicious cross-section of pop culture fandom in a way that was both unexpected, but also totally welcomed to the table.
What is wild is that this set draws from the entire history of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, touching on not just the cartoons, but also digging into the comics and various incarnations of the characters from over the years. This gives this set a really rad expanse of ideas to pull from, blending multi-generational fandom into the MTG space in a way that feels meaningful and, for sure, eye-catching. This whole thing feels a bit like a spectacle, but who doesn’t love a spectacle when it’s executed as well as this one seems to be?
Kevin Eastman, one of the TMNT creators, is returning for this set to create headliner cards. Each of the four main Turtles features original borderless artwork by Eastman, and is emblazoned with a shiny stamp of his signature.
In addition to those rad Eastman Headliner cards, there are full-art pizza basic lands that feature a pizza with MTG Mana art. These are going to cover all 5 basic lands and will appear in non-foil and traditional foil in Magic: The Gathering | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Bundles, with surge foils and traditional foils available in Collector Boosters.
The Pizza Bundle, aside from having an epic box, is going to come with 9 Booster packs,
1 Collector Booster, 25 Non-foil pizza lands, 5 Traditional foil pizza basic lands, 2 Traditional foil Pizza Bundle promo cards, 2 Reference cards, and 1 Oversized spindown life counter.
With the Turtles, you are also getting their villains with The Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady, and the Rat King. As someone whose top three decks include a mono-black rat deck, I can tell you I wanted the Rat King, The Chasbringer to have a little more “rat” to his theme, but the Ninja ability could be cool if I’m given enough time to ponder how I can use it at the table.
The upcoming set launches globally on March 6th, 2026, and is available for pre-order now from local game stores, TCGplayer, and other places MTG products are sold.
Until next time, while I was never a fan of mixing the toys in the toybox, these crossover themes in the Universe Beyond have, so far, been pretty rad, and I for one would not mind getting some more TMNT cards into my collection.
