Masters of the Universe Origins X Thundercats Battle Cat-Man (Mattel)
Though Masters of the Universe Origins might be one of the best lines in toys right now, in 2025 it didn’t quite hit the heights of last year’s Turtles of Greyskull. Well, with one exception.
Battle Cat-Man, of the Thundercats crossover line, takes He-Man’s longtime “fearless friend” and transforms him into a heroic warrior on the same level as Lion-O and He-Man himself. It’s a fantastic design, and a wonderful figure besides. Easily one of my favorites of the year. (Tony Thornley)
Operation: Monster Force Wave 2 (Fresh Monkey Fiction/Big Bad Workshop)
Last year we sang the praises of the first wave from Operation: Monster Force. Well, in October, Wave 2 hit and it’s even better than the first. We have a hard time choosing our favorites- it’s a tie between the Invisible Man inspired Lt. Griffin and Frankenstein-esque Donner Party pictured above- but they all look incredible. Once I have the budget for them myself, both figures are coming home if my wife doesn’t snag one to put under the tree. (Tony Thornley)
Marvel Legends Fantastic Four She-Hulk (Hasbro)
Last year, Hasbro released a She-Hulk figure on an Iron Man retro card (for some reason) that was a really good figure, with some weird design choices (like a pink leotard that no one associates with the character). This year they fixed the design weirdness by releasing a new She-Hulk on the same body mold, but this time on a Fantastic Four card, with a ponytail second headsculpt and some more accessories like dumbbells. It took an already great figure and made her even better, maybe even perfect. Now we just need re-releases of the classic Four to display next to her. (Tony Thornley)
Masters of the Universe Pop! (Funko)
We’ve all seen the meme where evil Skeletor is laying on the ground defeated, only to pop up, run away, and shout: “Until we meet again!” The Funko creators must have taken that to heart when they designed this bobblehead. It hilariously features the skull-headed baddie from behind with his catchphrase emblazoned on the front … errr back … oh whatever. Just embrace the dark side of it! (Tom Smithyman)
Star Wars The Black Series Revenge Of The Sith Obi-Wan Kenobi (Hasbro)
In a year that saw my Star Wars collecting taper off because it basically gave me the last few designs I “need” Hasbro released the perfect Obi-Wan Kenobi. Based on his appearance in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, this figure perfectly captures Ewan MacGregor’s appearance (and swagger) in the best of the prequel trilogy. Unfortunately, its companion figure — Episode III Anakin Skywalker — is harder to find, but is also pretty damn close to perfect. (Tony Thornley)
Luke Skywalker Vintage Figure Ornament By Hallmark
If your Christmas tree shows off pop culture, this series of ornaments from Hallmark is definitely for you. In its second year, the vintage Star Wars action figure ornaments showcases Luke Skywalker from the original 1970s line — complete with the incorrect yellow lightsaber. It looks like something that would have been under the tree in 1978, much to the delight of OG Star Wars fans. Hallmark has lots of other pop culture ornaments, but this is one to get for any star warrior of a certain age. (Tom Smithyman)
Star Trek USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D By Lego
After years of Star Wars this and Star Wars that, Lego finally gives some love to Trekkers with its first Star Trek set. Not only is this 3600-piece set an awesome replica of the Galaxy-class starship from Star Trek: The Next Generation, but there are mini-figs of all the main characters — including Guinan. (Don’t worry, you can stick the Wesley Crusher one in the warp core.) It includes a cool name card explaining the launch date and features details like the shuttle bay. It’s hard to know what’s better here — the fact that the saucer section separates or that Commander Riker comes with his own trombone. (Editor’s Note: We are aware that last weekend’s launch was extremely popular and the Enterprise is on backorder. It will be back in stock soon, we’re sure.) (Tom Smithyman)
Stormtrooper or Darth Vader Elf By Geeklett
You’ve heard of Elf on a Shelf. Well what about a Darth for your hearth? Embrace your dark side this holiday season with a Darth Vader or stormtrooper version of every parent’s nightmare elf. They come in a variety of holiday colors and will definitely geek up your celebration. Unfortunately, Vader doesn’t come with a lightsaber and the trooper doesn’t have a weapon (not that he could aim anyway). (Tom Smithyman)
Spider-Punk Spider-Bot Interactive Remote Control Bot By Disney
Everyone’s favorite version of Spider-Man is a punk variant also known as Hobart Brown. Spider-Punk quickly grabbed readers’ attention in Marvel’s Edge of the Spider-Verse story and then starred in his own miniseries as well as the animated movies and games. Now the Disney Store has a limited-edition Spider-Bot, complete with guitar. It comes programmed with combat and defensive abilities to help battle the other bots.
The hair spikes alone are worth the price. (Tom Smithyman)
Transformers: Soundwave From LEGO
We are living in a Golden Age of pop culture Legos, but nothing has given me the “must buy” feels like this LEGO Soundwave. True story: as a kid, I accepted the truth about Santa Claus after asking for — and failing to receive — the original Soundwave toy (because I was asking for it late in 1986, well after it had been pulled from the shelves as one of the original wave of Star Wars toys, making it impossible for my parents to purchase). As an adult, I finally got a hold of a Soundwave of my own when BotCon rolled into town, but even the original would be hard-pressed to compete with this beauty, which manages to be LEGO and also transform and includes little transforming LEGO versions of Laser Beak and Ravage. Cobra Desert Scorpion G.I. Joe Classified Figure from Hasbro
As a kid, there were three things I loved in my G.I. Joe figures: soft goods, lots of accessories, and animal sidekicks. The Cobra Desert Scorpion, the latest deluxe figure in Hasbro’s exemplary G.I. Joe Classified line, hits all three of those marks, with a soft goods desert poncho, weapons galore (including a grappling gun with an actual grapple), and a giant mutated scorpion pet. I also like it when G.I. Joe leans a bit into the absurd (especially when it comes to Cobra), and that’s this trooper to a tee. (Austin Gorton)
G.I. Joe Classified Retro Collection Cover Girl (Hasbro)
In a year of great G.I. Joe Classified releases (including my all time favorite Snake Eyes design) one figure stood out as the best for me. And it’s a character that I personally didn’t get until Skybound Entertainment’s Energon Universe. Courtney Krieger is a supermodel turned tank mechanic/builder. This figure has two great headsculpts, a bunch of great accessories, and a ton of personality. In a year full of fantastic figures, it’s really special for a figure like this to stand out. Released back in 2024, but rather flew under the radar … this is a huuuuge LEGO panoramic marvel of all things Batman: The Animated Series, with 4.210 pieces, measuring 30 inches wide, 16 inches high and 2.5 inches deep — hell, when it’s done, it looks perfect mounted on your wall!
If you love, or know someone who loves, the classic BTAS, and who doesn’t, you/they will definitely love this spectacular LEGO build, featuring the Gotham cityscape, complete with 15 detachable panels, showing the insides of Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum, and all the villainous goings-on in the city. Plus, it comes with LEGO Minifigs of The Dark Knight himself, the Joker, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and a removable Batmobile and Batwing.
A perfect gift, there’s even two sets of instructions so that two can build together. And once it’s all done, you can display the art deco beauty by mounting it on your wall or given pride of place anywhere using the flip-out stand. (Richard Bruton)
Seriously, you’re not going to be able to get away from Stranger Things this holiday time. Season 5 drops with Volume 1 — four episodes on 26th November, Volume 2 — three episodes on Christmas Day, and the finale episode on New Year’s Eve. It’s the end of a long, strange journey, one that’s had us all enthralled.
So, what to get for the Stranger Things-loving family member? Well, whilst there’s plenty of choice out there, I know I’ll be gifting this 8-inch plush Demogorgon — because nothing say happy holidays like a cuddly monster from the Upside Down with its flower-like head open to reveal all those teeth!
Doctor Who: History Of The Daleks #18 – ‘Resurrection Of The Daleks’ — B&M Exclusive
The Doctor Who Store offers this set, featuring two highly detailed Daleks from the episode “Resurrection of the Daleks” that first aired in 1984 (starring Colin Baker as The Doctor). Includes the black, white and silver liveried Supreme Dalek and a more customary Grey Drone Dalek. Each Dalek is 5.5-inch scale and comes with four points of articulation. (Brendan Allen)
Mattel Dominik Mysterio WWE Championship Showdown Series 25 Two-Pack Action Figure Set
Dirty Dominik Misterio has come a long way in his professional wrestling journey. His first couple years as a babyface, teaming with his legendary father Rey Misterio Jr, were pretty rough. He really started breaking out following his initial heel turn against Rey. His betrayal of Rhea Ripley in favor of Liv Morgan was one of the best storylines in recent WWE history.
This pair of figures captures that villainous moment with a Mattel WWE Championship Showdown Series 25 Two-Pack Action Figure Set. The figures, which measure approximately 6″, feature deluxe articulation and TrueFX detailing to provide a realistic look. The set also includes a Women’s World Heavyweight Championship accessory, calling back to Liv Morgan’s Revenge Tour and her time spent proudly sitting atop the women’s division. (Brendan Allen)
