Though it may come as a surprise to some readers of Streaming and Screaming, I do not consider myself a horror fan. I have zero interest in new horror films and I roll my eyes at the whole “elevated horror” trend. However, I am a lover of film and despite its outrageous title and reputation The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is an incredible film. Saying what the film does so well would spoil some of the best scares in cinema history. I will say that it’s not as gory as the title lets on. The film leaves things to your imagination and that’s where it will remain, forever looking in the shadows.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has been applauded by renowned filmmakers like Guillermo Del Toro and Quentin Tarantino. Its cinematic legacy has influenced global phenomenons like Chainsaw Man and even Arcane! So even if you don’t normally watch horror, I would encourage you to watch this particular film, if your dare.
