Dynamite Shares ‘ThunderCats X SilverHawks’ Covers
by Erik Amaya
Last week, Dynamite announced the imminent arrival of ThunderCats X SilverHawks — the crossover event uniting the two curious 1980s Rankin-Bass animated series in comics form. And on Tuesday, they made available the initial covers in the 15-issue event:
The company describes the crossover as a “trio of interconnected comic book titles telling a thrilling 15-part epic story from top creators as the pinnacle of over two years of revitalized storytelling.” The three minis — TXS, Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1, and ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks #1 — tell the tale from different angles as one of Panthro’s attempts to make Third Earth more secure lead the SilverHawks to their doorstep, but what will that mean for Mumm-Ra and the time lost ‘Cats? Writers Declan Shalvey and Ed Brisson take the helm with Shalvey, Rapha Lobosco, and Vincenzo Federici each taking art duties on the three series, respectively.
And as seen above, Shalvey offers up covers for all three series. Lucio Parrillo, Eric Canete, and Ben Oliver join him on the flagship series. Lobosco, Danny Earls, John Amor, and Erica D’Urso offer their talents to variants for Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1 while Federici, Ivan Tao, Marco Failla, and Alessandro Ranaldi lend their skills to ThunderCats X SilverHawks: ThunderHawks #1.
Beyond the artists above, Dynamite has additional covers to offer, including a “fun animation cover, capturing the nostalgic memory of the original beloved show” and an “illustrated piece from the Warner Bros. Discovery vault” for Mumm-Ra #1. Beyond that, original Lion-O voice Larry Kenney will sign “ultra-limited covers available on each series” and mystery blind bags for each issue will also be available.
ThunderCats X SilverHawks begins in April and runs through August.
