Collected Prose And Graphic Anthology ‘Muslim Futures’ Now Live On Kickstarter

Muslim Futures is now live on Kickstarter, launching at the beginning of Ramadan, introducing an expansive vision shaped by diverse Muslim storytellers.
The anthology brings together a multiverse of stories by veteran authors, filmmakers, and artists, imagining futures for Muslims in America and beyond. These are worlds where Muslims have the conditions necessary to thrive, and where stories are defined by authentic values of community care, justice, and love. Told in their own words and on their own terms, Muslim Futures envisions abundance and belonging as lived realities.
At the center of the project is writer, producer, and founder/CEO of The Utopia Studio Karim Ahmad whose work across speculative fiction, film, and social-impact storytelling anchors Muslim Futures in cultural authorship and imagination. The anthology takes shape across both graphic and prose formats, presenting a wide-ranging constellation of stories rooted in faith, care, and collective possibility.
“This project is such a labor of love and was the product of some very deep collective worldbuilding by all the authors together,” said Ahmad. “I think there is real power, necessary power — especially now, as we are seeing so much xenophobia in the world — to re-root the world’s perceptions of Muslim communities in our true, authentic experiences and values; to show how intersectional we are; and thus, to show how when Muslims thrive, all people thrive.”
Curated by Karim Ahmad and Ryah Aqel, the anthology’s table of contents spans a broad range of voices and forms. These stories include “Nura of the Multiverse” by Ahmad, “Zoha” by Fawzia Mirza, “The Pomegranate Farmer and the Prince” by Day Al-Mohamed, “Momo the Magnificent” by Mike Mosallam, “Ma’il” by Sami Khan, “Misk & the Tree of Pearls” by Ryah Aqel, “The Wedding” by Nijla Baseema Mu’min, “The Island” by Safia Elhillo, “Lunch at the Penal Colony” by Randa Jarrar, “1,034,323 Good Deeds” by Iman Zawahry, “The Mother Has Returned” by Angelica Lindsey-Ali, “The Academy of Mystic Arts” by Jumai Yusuf; “The Sun Born Beneath” by Iasmin Omar Ata, “Jinnestan” by Fatimah Asghar, “The Remembrance Beings” by Maytha Alhassen, and “Ho Jamalo” by Hussein Rashid.
Cover artwork is by Samira Idroos and Jamal Igle, with interior art by Igle, Silvio DB, Keiko Nishijima, and many more. Colors are by Joshua Jensen, lettering by Sean Rinehart, and graphic design by Jason Luz, bringing these imagined futures fully to the page through bold, expressive storytelling.
Backer rewards kick in at the $5 level, for stickers featuring art from the books. At the $20 tier, backers can choose between a print copy of the Muslim Futures prose anthology or a digital two-pack with the prose book and the OGN. Physical copies of the OGN kick in at the $30 tier. T-shirts, sweatshirts, and art prints are available at various higher tiers.
