IDW Launches A Bold New Era Of ‘Star Trek’ With Two New Titles For The 60th Anniversary

Star Trek is celebrating 60 years since debuting on American TV screens, and with IDW currently holding the license for Trek comics, they’d be daft not to celebrate this milestone too. And so we get the news that IDW will be publishing two new titles, with a new Star Trek #1 — by writer Christopher Cantwell (Iron Man, Out of Alcatraz) and artist Dennis Menheere (Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere, Hello Darkness) — out in September. This new ongoing series features Captain Seven of Nine as she heads up “a secret mission which takes the Enterprise-G beyond the four quadrants of the galaxy for the first time ever.”
“The Enterprise ventures into a hidden region of space where time fractures, minds unravel, and an unseen power manipulates fear itself — testing whether the Federation’s ideals of exploration are salvation… or the universe’s greatest mistake.”
Then in October, we get Star Trek: Zero Point #1 from writer Charlie Jane Anders (New Mutants, Women of Marvel), with an artist to be confirmed, I assume. No one is mentioned in the PR, but, we have a logo and a synopsis:
“While the Enterprise vanishes beyond the galaxy, Captain Raffi Musiker commands a starship tasked with preventing tomorrow’s disasters today — guided by a powerful artificial intelligence wearing the face of a familiar ally that may know too much, and understand too little about hope.”
Plus, we’ll also be getting celebratory one-shots, like Star Trek: Celebrations 2026 this May. Some of the best LGBTQIA+ creators in comics today focus on “the universe’s queer characters in tales of love and triumph, exemplifying Gene Roddenberry’s mission for us all to one day celebrate infinite diversity in infinite combinations.”
And in September we will get Star Trek: 60th Anniversary Special, with all-new stories by Dana Gould, Ryan North and Derek Charm, David Walker, Megan Camerena, and more. Plus, covers from Michael Cho, John Tyler Christopher, Chris Fenoglio, and other.
